Step Four : Pencils

I pencil directly on 10x15 bristol board using mostly HB pencil leads. Instead of drawing one panel at a time I sketch in the entire page. This is done is case any story telling problems arise that were not evident in the smaller thumbnails, they can be addressed here before too much time is invested in any one drawing.

Once the page layout is fully sketched in and meets my satisfaction, I start with the first panel and tighten the illustration making my way down the page panel by panel. Any reference material I have (such as photos I have taken or pulled from the internet, magaizines or books) get used during this stage.
